As Hubby mentioned, we’ll be among the over 500 dealers selling at the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market (at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Wisconsin) this weekend. Here are a few of the antiques and vintage collectibles we’re packing up to bring along — and, as always, keep an eye on our official Facebook page to see additional photos of the items we’ll be bringing along.

A charming little painted wooden drop-leaf antique farm table with four matching chairs.

Adorable framed vintage prints of children on dogs. (This photo also shows off the patterned linoleum top of the drop-leaf table.)

Lovers of mid-century modern pieces will flip over this ottoman with built-in, angled to the center, magazine racks beneath it. The cushion is original!

One of the things we like best about selling vintage items is finding the right homes for the gems we find. We consider ourselves more like adoption assistants for objects than dealers just trying to make a living, and as such we often find ourselves smiling when we don’t make a sale but make connections with people over objects. A recent example of this occurred at Facebook.

One of the owners of Exit 55 Antique’s page posted a photo of a rather large vintage sewing sampler we have for sale in our booth there, and a gentlemen named Dick Linhart left the following comment:

Since my Bride is a whiz with threads, yarns, and needles of all shapes and sizes, we have a great many of her creations personalizing our Cottage. It was that early ’70s era when stamped cross-stitch kits, patterns for knit & crochet wearables, and quilts started the revival of handiwork which exploded in 1976–the 200th anniversary of our nation’s independence. Apparently, Sharon or her family do not appreciate her handiwork; I hope you find loving home for this charming creation.

If you’ve been following our Facebook page, you know that we’ve expanded our antiques and vintage collectibles business by going from a case at Exit 55 Antiques to a booth. While this image makes it all look like magic, we spent nearly five hours Saturday night moving all the items in, arranging them, and vacuuming and cleaning up after ourselves. You can stop in any day between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to see all our goodies, but if come in this Saturday, September 22, 2012, you’ll find us working there too!

This Sunday, September 2, 2012, we’ll have your collectibles (and antiques) at Maxwell Street Days in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. (We told you we travel!)

Some of the goodies we’re bringing along… A primitive grey painted shabby-yet-chic wooden table, a primitive outdoor bench, a vintage custom-painted Gary Hasse Minnesota boat gas can, lots of old tools…

If you’re more the glamorous type, we’ve got a very cool mid-century mod round white portable hairdryer. Very Mad Men or Pan Am — looks just like the old round luggage pieces! It works and it has it’s original box. There will assorted other girlie collectibles, such as a vintage Barbie case, vintage kitchenalia, funky dancer plaques, mid-century modern side tables and other unique vintage home decor pieces.

We always have fun at flea markets — selling as well as buying. *wink* If we’re not too busy, we’ll try to share the fun by posting live to our Facebook page. (“Like” us, please!)

The gates open to public bright and early at 6:00 am and we hope to see you there!

To find us, just look for the big panda! He’s a large fiberglass panda bear hydraulic chair, for beauty parlours and such. Wouldn’t he be a great chair for a child who doesn’t like to sit at the table?! Or just a great eclectic funky piece for your home. (He’s been keeping me company on our screened-in porch and I will miss him greatly.) The bear also can be removed from the “booster enabled” hydraulic stand, if you prefer to just display the bear sans chair.

If the kitschy panda chair sells by the time you arrive, or you just simply can’t find us, feel free to call me on my cell and I’ll help you find us: 701.306.6145.

If you’re a collector of items or advertising from Minnesota companies, check out the vintage glass bottle of Gold Cross liquid “concentrated beverage base” in “imitation strawberry” flavoring currently in our case at Exit 55 Antiques. The syrup was made by Brechet & Richter Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota; here’s the article I wrote about the company and the bottle.

Derek and Deanna Dahlsad will be working at Exit 55 Antiques (Fergus Falls, MN) on Friday, August 24, 2012; so come on over and see us!

Along with our stuff in the case (and the garden and other primitive pieces outside), we’ll be there selling what everyone else has. (You can see some of what’s in the store at the Pasttime Antiques & Collectibles page at Facebook!) If you’ve got stuff to sell, or just want to talk about antiques and collectibles, stop on in and see us!

As always, the store hours are 10 to 5. Hope to see you there!

(Yes, this pretty pink masked vintage doll music box will be there — unless someone buys her by then!)

Added a few things to the case at Antiques On Broadway… The wooden mail sorter box from the Fergus Falls, MN, post office ($100). It’s on top of the case, between the box of Easy Rider Magazines and the smaller crate full of assorted vintage magazines. Near it, an antique barrel or keg ($75).

We also added a vintage Kool-Aid dispenser by Chilton ($15); which isn’t very primitive, but we love pop culture collectibles too. Don’t you?
