If you like automobilia, if you’re looking for some cool vintage advertising for your man cave, take a look at these vintage metal auto part storage boxes.

Original metal wall-mounted tool cabinets which once hung in Sahr’s gas and service station in downtown Fargo, North Dakota, these were pretty stinkin’ dirty. This is them after being sprayed with the hose, before any scrubbing took place. But we cleaned them up and now they are spiffy enough to use in your home.

Even better than metal advertising signs, these vintage metal cases hold things! They can be used, as they once were, as tool and supply cabinets to hold auto, fleet, farm, and marine parts; or you can store anything you’d like inside as there are shelves as seen in the photo above — but don’t worry, all clean now!

I think the black and white box with the retro 70s car, boat, tractor, truck, bus, and boat graphics would be a cool way to store Matchbox and other collectible cars — for little and big boys. But once you buy it, fill it with what you like!

Super functional; super cool.

Uncommon pieces as they were only available to service stations, auto supply shops, and the like; not for consumers.

The taller upright metal Napa & Belden cases are likely from the late 1960s-1970s; the shorter, wider, unit with the green and gold Filko advertising is circa late 1940s-1950s.

You’ll find these items, and many others, in our booth at the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market this weekend in Wisconsin. Our booth is located outside, near the entrance to the flea, in booth #214. Call 701.306.6145 if you need help finding us!

PS We travel to the flea tomorrow, so keep an eye on our Facebook Page for updates with photos!

The opening weekend of the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market may have been rainy and not-so-nice, but we sold over half our inventory anyway! Since then, we’ve been focusing on restoring, repairing, painting, etc. of other furniture pieces in (and outside of) our shop.

But here’s a sneak peek at some of what we’ll be bringing to the next one on June 28th… That’s this weekend!

This vintage chest or cabinet served in the workshop — where it was likely made too. Note the drop-down storage and the black metal legs.

Also, a vintage cabinet & kitchen table we salvaged and painted a a creamy butter yellow. Each is properly distressed for a country prim home. (Mighty cute for the dining room or the porch!)

And this mossy green dresser got a few pale yellow stripes and a fresh coat of paint on top.

Last (for right now!) this cute little table we gave a shabby finish and a shiny lacquor seal so it stays chippy — but keeps too much paint from coming off. It also makes the red tone of the wood really pop!

Gosh, this week has flown by! I spent the week helping my folks, aka Antiquips, of No Egrets Antiques, with their latest estate sale.  It was a very large estate, just full of Asian art & decor — including this set of vintage Bronzeware flatware. (Yes, flatware comes in bronze!) It was amazing how much we sold! However, after five sale days, there’s still this fabulous rosewood breakfront with carved dragons and a mid-century modern secretary with plenty of display space for your mid-century modern pottery and other pieces. (The flatware chest and Bronzeware is still available too.)

After all that, this weekend is the last Elkhorn Antique Flea Market of the season! Here’s just some of the goodies we brought.

Stop by and see my parents and I in both #216. We’d love to see you!

All of this reminds me that the entire summer has flown by!

Pretty soon it will be time for the October issue of the Dolls By Diane newsletter — just what will I have in store for you to learn about dolls this Halloween?! Could it be even more creepy dolls? You’ll have to wait (and subscribe!) to see!

While the weather may be putting a damper on the flea market season, antiquing never really ends!

On Monday, we updated our case at Antiques On Second, in Milwaukee, WI (here’s a map). We added lots of mid-century mod items, and we’ll post photos of individual gems on our Facebook page in the next few days (so be sure to “like” us so you won’t miss the pics!). For now, you can click the image below to see a much larger view.

Our case is #95, located on the third floor of the shop. It’s easy to find our case: get off the elevator, turn right & walk a few steps to the desk and the case is there on the left!

Tomorrow evening we’re back on the road again in a loaded van — this time for the season opener at the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. We’ll be sharing a big booth (booth # 216 located between the grandstand and main gate) with my parents, No Egrets Antiques.

It was raining a bit today, so we really hustled to get things safely into the van before they’d get wet, so I have no preview photos to show you. We will post some photos on our Facebook Page, of course. But wouldn’t it be wiser — and more fun! — to get to the sale in person, anyway?

Gates open for the antique and flea market fun at 7 am Sunday, May 19, 2013 — and if you’re super exited, you can buy your way into an early admission on Saturday and wrangle deals while we dealers set-up! Either way, we hope to see you there!

Here’s a couple of photos I promised you of the new case we moved into at Antiques On Second in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are sharing the case with my folks, No Egrets Antiques. If you want to see more of the primitive antiques and vintage collectibles, look for case number 95, located on the third floor. Just step off the elevator, turn to your right, and you’ll see it just across from the wrap desk with the helpful staff. (Today, Bethany was working up there — turns out, she’s originally from North Dakota! What a hoot!) More photos will be shared on our Facebook page. Right now, I’m off to do some more antiquing in Wisconsin before I leave for Fargo tomorrow morning. *wink*

Tomorrow, I, the wifey, will be driving to Wisconsin with a van (nearly) full of antiques & vintage collectibles. The first few days I will be helping my parents, No Egrets Antiques, with an estate sale they are managing. Then on the 15th, we will be starting selling at our latest antique mall, Antiques on Second in Milwaukee! (All this less than two weeks after our recent buying trip in Wisconsin — no wonder we haven’t been posting much!)

I will post photos once we are moved in and it’s official. Meanwhile, take a look at the new-to-you old items in our Etsy shop!

As Hubby mentioned, we’ll be among the over 500 dealers selling at the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market (at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Wisconsin) this weekend. Here are a few of the antiques and vintage collectibles we’re packing up to bring along — and, as always, keep an eye on our official Facebook page to see additional photos of the items we’ll be bringing along.

A charming little painted wooden drop-leaf antique farm table with four matching chairs.

Adorable framed vintage prints of children on dogs. (This photo also shows off the patterned linoleum top of the drop-leaf table.)

Lovers of mid-century modern pieces will flip over this ottoman with built-in, angled to the center, magazine racks beneath it. The cushion is original!

This Sunday, September 2, 2012, we’ll have your collectibles (and antiques) at Maxwell Street Days in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. (We told you we travel!)

Some of the goodies we’re bringing along… A primitive grey painted shabby-yet-chic wooden table, a primitive outdoor bench, a vintage custom-painted Gary Hasse Minnesota boat gas can, lots of old tools…

If you’re more the glamorous type, we’ve got a very cool mid-century mod round white portable hairdryer. Very Mad Men or Pan Am — looks just like the old round luggage pieces! It works and it has it’s original box. There will assorted other girlie collectibles, such as a vintage Barbie case, vintage kitchenalia, funky dancer plaques, mid-century modern side tables and other unique vintage home decor pieces.

We always have fun at flea markets — selling as well as buying. *wink* If we’re not too busy, we’ll try to share the fun by posting live to our Facebook page. (“Like” us, please!)

The gates open to public bright and early at 6:00 am and we hope to see you there!

To find us, just look for the big panda! He’s a large fiberglass panda bear hydraulic chair, for beauty parlours and such. Wouldn’t he be a great chair for a child who doesn’t like to sit at the table?! Or just a great eclectic funky piece for your home. (He’s been keeping me company on our screened-in porch and I will miss him greatly.) The bear also can be removed from the “booster enabled” hydraulic stand, if you prefer to just display the bear sans chair.

If the kitschy panda chair sells by the time you arrive, or you just simply can’t find us, feel free to call me on my cell and I’ll help you find us: 701.306.6145.

It’s less than a month until the next Elkhorn flea market rolls around.  We’re planning on renting a booth and selling our wares there in the September 30th event, but if you’re in eastern Wisconsin on the 12th of August you should stop at Elkhorn and see what’s shaking.  The photo above comes from a recent newspaper article about the flea market, including an interview with Nona.  She runs the sale with her husband, Skip, who runs a antique shop in Hales Corners that Wifey and I frequent from time to time.  The pictures don’t do the sale justice — it’s a lot more than nutcrackers and dolls, and more high-end antiques than rummage-sale stuff.
