Sure, we are all about the vintage Valentines this time of year – but we are also enjoying the new trend: Valentine’s Day Trees!

We call this one the Sweet-Tree For Your Sweetie!

(In our space at Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market; booth #26, dealer code YES.)

Also, what can be more romantic than weddings – and vintage photos of weddings? The entryway at Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market is filled with them for the holiday!

And we’ve even got this sweet vintage centerpiece idea: a pink & gold metal mid-century modern bowl, sitting on a crisp white china plate, holding a pink Asian jade tree sheltering an adorable pair of vintage, made in Japan, china bride & groom candle climbers! About as romantic – and eclectic! – as it gets!

Discover more in glorious pink & white at the #isncollectorscorner hash! (And on the wife’s Instagram too!)

Today is National Beer Can Appreciation Day, honoring the day beer was first put into cans in 1935, and the Farm is celebrating with a New Year’s Old Beers event – featuring a book signing with Alicia Underlee Nelson, of Prairie Style File! She will be signing copies of her book, North Dakota Beer: A Heady History at the shop from 4 pm to 6 pm.

If you want to get in the mood, here’s an interesting article on beer can history: Meet Archaeology’s Beer Can Man.

Also, we brought in some killer vintage beer items for this event!

Circa the 1950s, a Schlitz globe light (incomplete but rare as all heck & cool to boot!), and a 1963 Pabst 3-D advertising piece featuring golf!

Lots more breweriana & beer collectibles in the shop too – and we dealers keep restocking as this has been super popular! So come check it out – and, don’t worry, if you can’t make it today, Alicia will be back on Saturday, January 25th, from 1 pm to 3 pm to do more book signing!

Just scored a pair of vintage playground rides — and brought them into the Fargo location of F.A.R.M.!

Both are believed to be made of cast aluminum, with modest wear to what’s believed to be original paint. As always, contact us with your interest. We will ship — however, due to size and weight, we will need to calculate the exact cost based upon your specific location. Also, we would ship via UPS with their proper insurance and professional packaging service so as to ensure safe arrival.

The super cool — and ultra coveted — Gametime rocket! Another great old Saddle Mate aluminum playground ride designed by Robert S. Wormser. Complete with USAF on the tail. Marked patent pending, however also lists a patent number 210393. Circa late 1960s, early 1970s. Sadly, this classic, mid-century, space-age playground rocket ship design is no longer in production. What a thrill it must have been to ride! And what a thrill to own one!

[Shown here with a very cool bit of retro red & white vinyl — looks a lot like the old diner seats, doesn’t it? Likely a handmade piece which may have served as the back to a bench or a trunk? Who knows?! Half the fun is finding it and making it suit a decor purpose in your own home! Cool diamond design implemented with thumbtacks. Also available for sale.]

Last, but not least, this vintage Saddle Mates Toucan! Also known as the Saddle Mate Bird or Swampy, designed by Robert S. Wormser. Circa late 1970s. Also marked “Pat Pend”, so an early production. Super cute & quite charming as is, but these vintage playground pieces can be repainted to suit your decor and whimsical desires too.

Both pieces were each once on large springs. Those had removed before we found them; however, each vintage playground ride is in good enough condition to once again be attached to a new spring or “ride” mechanism, should the collector wish it.

Very cool mid-century pieces of childhood nostalgia.

If these old aluminum playground rides bring back great memories, you may wish to check out Once Upon a Playground: A Celebration of Classic American Playgrounds, 1920–1975!

The Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market (F.A.R.M.) has expanded, opening a new, second location in the Moorhead Center Mall — and we’ve expanded too, taking another two booths there. You can see a bit of our space in this photo taken for the article about the new location in the July 7, 2016 issue of the FM-Extra.

The two booths are together, but one side (currently) focuses on Mid-Century Modern furnishings and decor (that link is just a sneak peek; will share more photos later, I promise!) and the other booth is filled with vintage clothing. Yes, Fargo-Moorhead has another shopping venue for authentic vintage clothing!

Our space features, easily, 100 years of vintage fashions, from Victorian all the way to retro 1990s pieces. There are some truly rare beauties, including “Mad Men” fashions from the 1950s and 60s. We have couture dresses (including quintessential little black cocktail dresses and wiggle dresses), classic rhinestone jewelry, “popcorn” bead handbags, violet vintage gloves, pink chiffon hats — even vintage hat boxes, train cases, vintage glove drying racks or hand forms (with adjustable thumbs!), and fashionable vintage sewing advertising signs!

And we are proud to offer a number of new old stock (NOS) fashions from the 1980s and 90s which have their original sales tags! These dresses and jumpsuits came from the Stamas Boutique in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, where the wives of Milwaukee Brewers and other well-heeled society shopped. (I know; I used to work there back in the 1980s — I probably handled some of these very same garments!)

In addition to our vintage clothing, several other dealers at the new FM Antiques & Repurposed Market store also have vintage fashions for sale. So why not come on down to the Moorhead Center Mall and check it out? In fact, hubby & I will be working there today (Saturday, July 9th) so we can help you out!

June is for weddings! Here’s a bit of what we have for sale at F.A.R.M.:

vintage bride doll in silk dress silk chiffon veil

A vintage boxed set of handkerchiefs – with blue embroidery, so it’s both the “something old” and the “something blue” (and maybe even covers “something new” as it’s new to you!)

And a pretty vintage bride doll. She’s made of cloth and I believe her dress is silk, her veil silk chiffon. Quite fragile; very lovely!

Also, see our vintage train cases & a very cool, ultra mod, round Tourister Tiara suitcase in white. Vintage suitcases well-suited for your honeymoon travels!

We’ve been busy, setting up and refilling so often that we’ve been remiss in telling you that we are selling at the new Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market (F.A.R.M.). Today it is one month to the day the shop opened! It’s a great mix of true antiques, cool vintage, and unique repurposed, recycled, upcycled items.

This is just some of what we have there in our space. Or maybe we should say what we’ve had there — because things are selling fast! Our space os booth #40, which is located right next to the check-out desk. (We’re on the other side of the wall of ribbons and wrapping.)

The shop is open from noon until 6 pm today, so stop on in & see what’s there!

We salvaged a number of vintage metal rolling carts, also known as kitchen carts, utility carts, bar carts, etc. And by “salvaging” I mean they were in atrocious conditions… Rusting, covered in funky old contact paper, missing the rolling wheels, etc., they sure were “fixer uppers” for junkers like us.

But, after lots of elbow grease, sanding, and spray painting, look how fabulous these two look!

The super space-age mid-century modern design begged for some red paint to go with that fancy chrome!

Next to the cart is an vintage industrial paper towel holder that we spiffed up to match. Because what racy red bar cart doesn’t risk some spills?

These pieces, and more, will be brought to this weekend’s Elkhorn Antique Flea Market in Wisconsin, where we expect they will go quickly!

Joseph and his wife were about to celebrate their first anniversary. Like any good husband, he wanted to give his wife Julie a special gift. In this case, it was a vintage typewriter as the couple had recently attended an event which celebrated the typewriter and Julie became smitten with them. (This is part of a larger typewriter trend!) However, Joseph isn’t just any good husband — he’s an awesome husband.

When difficulties arose in getting the first typewriter he ordered to arrive as a surprise at the hotel, he contacted us at our Etsy shop to see if we could overnight our Olivetti-Underwood typewriter to them. Who are we to stand in the way of True Love? Heck, we love happy beginnings as much as happy endings! So we hustled our behinds to make it happen, including typing a personal message from Joseph to his lovely bride. Not only did the anniversary gift arrive on time, but just in time for the couple’s arrival at the hotel. We know, because Joseph texted us to say so — complete with a photo!

Everything worked out perfectly, it was waiting in our room when we arrived. Thanks so much for your care in getting this to me, and for typing the note.

julie and her vintage typewriter

We are so glad it all worked out and so proud to have been a part of their love story!

Thanks, Joseph and Julie, for letting us share your story — and, again, happy anniversary and best wishes for a wonderful life!

PS Just look at their cute baby!!
