1943 City of Cudahy Resolution Document

From an estate of an active member of The American Legion comes this rare find:

"Resolution of Appreciation To American Legion Arthur Kerlin Post No 16 of Cudahy, Wisconsin"

Motivated by World War II, or as typed on the document: "Whereas, these United Sates are presently engaged in a world conflict against the opprressor Nazi-Fascist-Jap powers" the local Legion Post subitted this document with specific requests.

Requesting "appropriate action to present unto this City a suitable and fitting memorial in the form of an Honor Roll to the memory of the men and women of this community who are now in military service" as well as recognition of the post for "an expressionof thanks on behalf of the officials of this City and on behalf of the entire populous of the City of Cudahy is hereby extended unto the American Legion Arthur Kerlin Post No. 16, of Cudahy, Wisconsin, for its esteemed public-spirited action in making said presentation."

The document was introduced at a Regular Meeting of the Common Council of the City of Cudahy on June 15, 1943 by Alderman Arthur E. Gooder.

This document is signed by Gooder, as well as Vincent Totka, Mayor; James F. Keller, City Clerk; and John G. Jursik, City Attorney. It also has the embossed city seal.

We are unsure as to the status of the resolution, if it was passed etc. The line for resolution No at the top is blank...

Typed document on thin paper, stapled to light blue 'legal brief' sheet. In total it measures 12 x 9 inches.

Condition

Very nice conditions. No rips or stains, 2 places with yellowing that look like the white document was once taped to the blue paper. Super!
